You can be confident that our suggested scheduling will be accurate within the limits of our control (rainy weather will of course slow us down on exterior paint projects...).

Inventory & waste disposal services for old paints, solvents & other hazardous household materials
At Apex Painters we're as concerned as you are with maintaining a healthy environment. We take environmental issues very seriously and do our utmost to insure that all necessary procedures are undertaken to insure the safety of our work sites and that all materials are disposed of in the safest manner.
Worksite Insurance:
Ask the paint contractors you are considering working with to see their insurance certificates of liability and workman's compensation and be sure the dates on the certificates are up to date.
Comparing Paint Contractors:
When comparing multiple estimates make sure to look at more than just the price. Make sure all aspects of the job are included and described in detail. Do the different estimates offer the same work details? Do the prices include labor as well as materials? Be careful not to try to compare apples and oranges. If you're unsure of what to ask for in getting additional price estimates, we can help clarify for you the different parts of a painting project so that your price comparisons will actually be for the same contract.
The Better Business Bureau or your local Chamber of Commerce can also be a resource to use for check up on different painting contractors and their local reputation.
Ask for references around you. Talk to neighbors, family and friends to see if they have ever used the companies you are considering and what their experience was.

Our Recommended Paint Products:
We use only top of the line products from Sherwin Williams, Benjamin Moore, Devoe and Pittsburgh Paints. After years of house painting experience and we've tried all the brands and encourage our clients to stick with the best quality available in one of the four major brands. The extra expense of the paint will more than pay for itself in the better look, quality and longevity of their paints!
Interior Painting Preparations
Surfaces with loose paint must be scrapped and sanded and washed with TSP. Wall cracks are repaired with fiberglass tape and spackled. Joints are caulked and holes puttied. Stain-lock sealer is applied as needed. Furniture, floors and household items are protected with masking tape, paper plastic covers and drop cloths as needed.
Exterior Painting Preparations
Surfaces are scraped and sanded to remove loose paint, any mildew removed with bleach solution. Joints are caulked, holes puttied, loose boards nailed, larger surface irregularities smoothed out with “Bondo." Cracks in stucco are patched with Stucco Patch or Elastomeric Patch. Surfaces are sealed for waterproofing. Loose or cracked window glazing is replaced. Rusted spots are sanded and treated with anti-rust solution and primer. All areas adjacent to treated areas are covered with drop cloths. Preparation areas are protected, windows covered with plastic sheets as needed.

Chemical Stripping:
Have some wood moulding that you'd like to restore to its original stained beauty? We can take off the layers of old paint or stain and then add a fresh new stain.

Power Washing:
High pressure house washing as a preparation before exterior painting or as a separate service when the painting is not needed. It successfully removes mildew and dirt, so your house will look fresher, like it was painted more recently. We can also remove layers of grime off of your deck using a bio-degradable product which cleans without killing your plants or harming your pets.
Hardwood Floor Refinishing:
Refinished hardwood floors will make your floors look brand new again! Keep the same color or try something new! Add an extra protective polyurethane surface to insure that it will remain beautiful for years to come!
Fire Barrier Coating:
Add an extra layer of protection to your home! Meets local building codes and is approved by the City of Ithaca Building Department.
Waterproofing:
In a process of preparation we seal all the surfaces with proper sealants to provide waterproofing protection. As a separate service you can also choose Elastomeric Paint or other professional waterproofing coatings, or order installation of metal flashing where needed.
Wood, Plaster and Masonry Repair:
We do all surface repairs and cooperate with carpenter, floor contractor and other tradesmen to provide you with full repair service.
Decks and Wood Refinishing:
Full service of wood restoration including stripping, staining, varnishing and clear wood finishing.
